Start at the Colosseum, an enormous arena where gladiators once battled. Then meander around the Roman Forum’s timeworn ruins, past crumbling temples and basilicas. See where emperors lived on Palatine Hill— and enjoy an up-close view of the 2,000-year-old, well-preserved Pantheon church.

Fourteen spacious rooms feature wooden panelling, comfortable upholstery and French doors opening onto decorative wrought iron balconies overlooking the harbor. Guests can relax in the lounge and bar or enjoy sampling the hotel’s traditional Italian ice cream and freshly baked pizza on the outdoor terrace. Il Pirgo is a popular pebble beach approximately ten minutes walking distance from the hotel and there is a convenient shuttle service to your ship.
This luxury 5 star hotel was built at the beginning of the twentieth century and features a magnificent entrance hall and staircase of marble. Individual rooms have a modern decor with touches of quirky, contemporary style in the brightly colored furniture and artwork. While there are no hotels in Rome with a shuttle service to Civitavecchia, most hotels can arrange private transfers to and from the port. A contemporary exterior full of geometric lines and extensive balconies adds a unique charm to this boutique-style hotel.

With lots of different types of accommodation in Rome, the only thing limiting you is often your budget. Children under 12 travel for free, although there is a limit of one child per paying adult. If you do not mind handling your own bags and traveling to and from stations, the train is affordable and connect the port with Rome in an hour or less. We can advise you to book a hotel based on location, guest reviews, price and other personal preferences rather than to focus on hotel shuttles. You can also reach Sicily by ferry, including to Palermo and Termini Imerese.
You can leave your car directly in the port area during your cruise. This last part of the journey takes around 45-minutes for a Freccia Bianca train and 1 hour 20 minutes on the Intercity. All cruise ship piers are located along the Cristoforo Colombo antemurale (over 3 km long). Except pier 25 which is located on the opposite side of the antemurale C.
